We steer away from offering re-mastered CDs that are readily available as this one can still be found on its official release. We looked with eager anticipation to the Retroactive Records official release, only to be disappointed beyond belief, and we're not talking about a Petra recording here :-). I could not bear to listen to more than three tracks on the 'Official' release as it has been bassed to a heavy metal extreme. Bass is nice when done in moderation, same as Honey, but eat a pail of Honey and you will scream at the mere sight of a bee. The Retroactive release has bass added to such a horrendous extreme that the right side of the stereo spectrum is completely clipped. If you are a heavy metal head and have lost all sense of music fidelity, you may dig the official release, myself, to have endured all 10 songs would have meant kidney failure.
Re-mastering is an art form, one that requires patience, a finely tuned ear, proper equipment and the most important part, experience and extreme determination to do it right. Here is where Sweet Music excels, we can extract the sound and remove any noise with surgical precision, be it record rumble, tape hiss, static, pops, what have you, leaving the crisp sound to be enjoyed. We always encourage you to play it loud, play it with head phones on and enjoy. In the Retroactive records release, it is VERY evident that the source was a record, lots of record rumble left (stylus noise), the sound being muffled and dull.
The Retroactive Records release has one thing going for it, the artwork, it is absolutely second to none, we can't duplicate it not in the one off scale that we do these items, but then, what good is a fancy garbage can, it's still holding garbage. If you want the full set through us, the inserts will be as top notch as we can produce them, the sound quality, second to none. If you want the best, buy the official CD, then just the plain CD (with full colour print) from us to enjoy. This listing is for the basic CD without the covers.
