The CD does not do this great performance justice!
What a travesty such a great, great album of live material suffered such a brutal hatchet job when it was transfered to compact disc. "Captured In Time and Space" was a monumental release for Petra in that not only was it the last to feature the vocally acrobatic Greg X. Volz in the lead singer slot, it unleashed John Lawry's shamefully fun "Jesus Loves You" keyboard solo. When I bought the CD, I was amazed that all the songs and spoken portions were able to fit on a single disc; so I assumed. What I wasn't prepared for was a good chunk of music and dialog were edited out (and very poorly edited too I might add) for what I can only assume was for time constraints.
This live performance deserved so much better. I recommend any true fan of Petra to pick up the LP or cassette version (and I strongly recommend the cassette over the LP). You'll find the performances in their entirety as they should've been on the CD, but aren't. It's bad enough that Star Song, Petra's label at the time, found it necessary to cannibalize Petra's catalog with multiple "best of" compilations containing many of the same songs. It's even worse that they would allow this fine work to be butchered onto the CD version. Shame! Shame! Shame! This should've been released as a double CD with the full performance intact.
